Description
Rock and roll pioneer and cultural icon Elvis Presley was drafted into the U.S. army in 1957. He served in West Germany for two years, then came out of retirement to make 28 films and record several more albums. The story of Elvis's draft was the inspiration for the 1960s Broadway hit Bye Bye Birdie.
