Every year for the past 40 years, students from across Oakland are invited to participate in the MLK Oratorical Festival, a city-wide speech contest inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “We Are the Dream” follows several young people as they prepare their original and adapted speeches and poems in the weeks leading up to the final competition.
