Description
Raised in the swamplands of Zaria by her aunt and uncle, twelve-year-old orphan Adia Kelbara is told by them that she is an ogbanje, a person cursed to bring misfortune wherever she goes. Shortly after she begins to manifest unusual powers that appear to prove their theory, she's sent to the Academy of Shamans for an apprenticeship, where she hopes to find way to break the curse. But when she arrives, she learns that things aren't as they seem and she may be the key to stopping the vengeful demon Olark the Tormentor, who has possessed the Emperor Darian.
