Description
Former WWII U.S. army medic Ray Lambert shares his experiences during the war, focusing on his memories of the Allied landing at Omaha Beach in Normandy. Lambert describes his childhood and the events that led to his enlistment in 1939, the missions he fought in Tunisia, Italy, and France, and the events of D-Day where he helped save dozens of lives before losing consciousness to multiple injuries including a broken back. He describes life in the crucible of war from a doctor's perspective, such as addressing malaria and trench foot, and he also reflects on life on the home front, from ration books to Victory Gardens.
