Description
Describes how in 1917 the Radium Luminous Materials Corporation hired young women to work for them, for pay far greater than most businesses offered at the time, painting watch hands with paint that had radium in it. Radium girls were told that the paint was safe and would give them a beautiful glow. But soon the young women started suffering pain, shattered bones and teeth, and sarcomas. The 1928 lawsuit against RLMC uncovered evidence that the company knew the dangers of radium--and never told the girls.
