A Nazi buried in a bunker for 6 years somehow escapes and survives, left without sight. A sensationalistic reporter stuns the world with the story of the WWII survivor, only to have his assistant find out the story was made up to sell more papers.

Crackpot inventor Caractacus Potts lives in the English countryside with his two children and their dotty grandfather. Potts's various inventions, including Toot Sweets, a candy/whistle, backfires. But then Potts restores a junked race car, affectionately named "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". Chitty flies, floats, and generally thwarts efforts by Baron Bomburst to capture her.

Re-enacts the military operation of D-Day from four points of view--the workings of the high commands of the American, English, French, and German forces in their battle scheme for Normandy. Largely filmed on actual invasion sites in France.
